Fiends on the prowl

A TSI sting operation finds how paedophilia has turned into a thriving business in Delhi, NCR and Mumbai. Taking advantage of kids’ poverty and craze for brands and gadgets, middlemen get rich by supplying minor boys and girls to satiate the desire of sick, rich men, many of them NRIs and foreigners. By Abhishek Kumar and Neeraj Rajput

TSI – Don’t feel shy of me, you should not tell a lie. I am a friend of Rupesh. I live in Delhi and Rupesh lives in Mumbai. Tell us the truth. What all has Rupesh told you?
Kids – (Smiles again) That which I am supposed to do.

TSI – How many more are there with you?
Kids – There are many like us there.

TSI – If others are asked to do this, will they be ready?
Kids – I don’t know.

TSI – Suppose we want some more children of your age, can we get them?
Kids – Yes, at least 1-2 for sure.

TSI – They have done this before?
Kids – They might have done it once or twice.

TSI – Where have they done this?
Kids – With their girlfriends.

TSI – How many of your friends do this?
Kids – We are 4-5 friends.

TSI – They all are in touch with Rupesh?
Kids – Yes, they all know him.

TSI – How much do you get paid?
Kids – We don’t get money.

TSI – You do it for free?
Kids – Waves his head.

TSI – Don’t you feel scared to do this?
Kids – I felt scared when I did it for the first time.

TSI – Where did you do it for the first time?
Kids – I went to his place.

TSI – If your parents get to know, then?
Kids – They will not get to know.

TSI – Why will they not get to know. If Rupesh tells them, then?
Kids – He will not tell them.

TSI – Why will he not tell them?
Kid – I have full faith in him.

TSI – How much faith do you have in him?
Kid – 100 per cent.

This time, we spoke with the kids for long. We got to know that Rupesh had an army of kids and he was the general. We also got to know that kids from rich families were also getting trapped.

During the course of our investigation, we got in touch with more than 10 middlemen and none of them refused to fulfil our demand. But most of them were demanding token money to take matters forward. Rupesh and Ansh didn’t demand token money. We had decided not to give a single penny to any pimp. During the course of this investigation, a lot of middlemen promised us to supply minor girls. Jyoti, a Faridabad-based pimp, actually brought over a girl of 16 years when we started working on this story. The same happened with one Mumbai-based pimp who got 3 to 4 girls below the age of 15 years for us.
